How to fix my Droid's touch screen?

I have the motorola droid for verizon with a history of water damage. The phone hasn't had any physical or water damage this week or last, but I did leave the phone in the heat a little too long today. I went to check a message and the touch screen was completely nonresponsive. All the other buttons are working well.
