I switched to Verizon and tried canceling my Sprint service. They refused to until July 8th.?

I called into Sprint because i hate sprint and tried to cancel my contract and they refused to cancel it. They said they would on the 8th of july. AND my new Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 2 is going to be at my house tomorrow. So whats Sprints deal? I just wantedd Verizon and they wont let me cancel?
