Is there any way I can purchase an Android phone and put my Sprint simcard in it?

I want to buy an Droid phone from Ebay or another website (websites would also help) without having to purchase another 2 year contract with Sprint. if I just take the simcard out of my Samsung phone and put it in the Droid one, will it work?
