Why is there not too much 'media attention' I guess about the Towed Radar Decoy?

I have read plenty of info on fighter aircraft and watched informative shows on such aircraft. Not until recently have I heard about the TRD. I saw it on the EF and now read that it has been used in the US for quite some time on the B-1, F-18 and F-16. Has this counter measure saved any aircraft in the past? How well does it work?
