What is wrong with my droid incredible?

When i receive or send messages an old message that i've deleted forever ago pops up in my status bar. When i go to click it, it takes me to my messages but just says "loading" and will never bring it up. I have tried deleting all of my messages again, and turning my phone off, and back on. I'm tired of seeing the message being in my status bar. Can someone please help?! ASAP.
